Save schematic under new name

Asked by Andreas von Ow

I have designed a multi functional PCB with KiCAD (analog signal processing functions such as audio preamp, HPF, LPF, analog state controller, ...). Depending on which components are mounted or values of components, the functions can be changed. I have tried to save the schematic under different names, depending on the function or configuration. When I open such a renamed schematic some components e.g. opamps do not appear, instead a question mark is shown. I guess this is a problem with the library. How can I save the same schematic with different component values under a new name and keep all components?
Thank you for some hints how to solve this
Andy

1) Question marks appear when library search paths are not set properly for each root
schematic.

2) I am not aware of a way to dynamically swap out the component values with the current
software.

You could template-ize any particular schematic and pre-process it using some text tools I
suppose. Each schematic file is a text file, and the format is not particularly complicated.

We have some things planned for the next 2 years which might address this to some extent.
