Which version of Kubuntu are you using?

If not using Ubuntu (which is your case using Kubuntu), you will need these pre-requisites as stated in the Front Page...

"...python3 packages, systemD, and the Gnome-Mutter desktop environment."

I believe Kubuntu (latests versions) uses KWin. The Current version of Keep.Awake is designed and developed against Gnome on either X or Wayland.

I haven't got any plans at the moment to incorporate KWin or any other type of non-Gnome Desktop environment; my apologies.

Can you help with this problem?
