Answer: Yes
After the recording begins, press [Super]+[Ctrl]+p to pause, [Super]+[Ctrl]+f to finish.

On my system using Linux Mint this does not work however:

[Ctrl]+{super]+p does pause the recording ( and restart it)

[Ctrl]+[super] + f finishes the recording.

I am using a logitech k810 keyboard - not sure if this is anything to do with the need to press the keys in the reverse order ?

I have tried this with another keyboard (wired USB) on the same computer and also on my Lenovo ThinkPad laptop same problem so it is probably Kazam or Linux is the reason.

I note [Super]+[Ctrl]+p produces different keycodes to [Ctrl]+{super]+p

Once [Ctrl] then {super] are pressed each time you press 'p' the pause is toggled - as long as you don't release [Ctrl] then {super].
