after designating a preference change, No SAVE!

   Whenever I designate a destination drive/folder, there is not a save preferences button. If I immediately look at the preferences, it has not changed. It is ALWAYS in the home directory.
   Is it possible to make a change in the kazam directory or a startup script that would make this change and make it stay?

   I know that this may not be a problem for some, but I do not have a lot of available space in the home partition, as I prefer having my work files on separate partitions.
