Possible to add "embed movie" extension?

Asked by Andy Pascall

First off, great job! I found JessyInk a few days ago and it blew my mind.

Second, I frequently need to embed movies in my presentation. Currently, jessyink has no easy facility to do this.

I was able to add movies by embedding the HTML5 video tag into the SVG. Right now, I have to manually edit the SVG to do it, but it'd be great to have a JessyInk extension to automatically do it.

I realize that this would probably break browser portability (until all browsers support the video tag and standard codecs), but maybe there is a way to do it with javascript?

Anyway, I think the ability to add easily movies would make jessyink just that much better. I can provide an example file if necessary.

Hi Andy:

Thanks a lot for the comment! Some time ago Tom Ibbotson made a nice demo using HTML5 to display videos in a JessyInk presentation. I really like the idea and I registered the blueprint extension-for-embedding-videos to make sure I don't forget about it. So far, I didn't get around to implementing it, but maybe I can give it a shot next weekend. I'll put up a comment to let you know how it went.

Cheers,
Hannes
