JessyInk aplication together video editing software

Asked by Carlos Eduardo

Hello,
I bumped with JessyInk in this very moment and it seems to be something close to what I am looking for. I could understand the logic of improving SVG usage. Anyway, my usage in specific is to insert a animated presentation in a bigger video project (based on video editing software like Sony Vegas). So, may JessyInk team answer a couple of questions? (a) Is there any way to record JessyInk presentation to insert it in a video project? (b) Is there any way to run JessyInk without using internet browser (or if it is necessary, without internet connection)? (c) I found information about Sozi and it seems to do same than JessyInk, is it? Thanks in advance. Wishes of amazing ideas in 2012!!! Carlos

Hi Carlos!

Let me see if I can answer some of your questions:

(a) Is there any way to record JessyInk presentation to insert it in a video project?
I don't know of a simple way to do that. I guess you could just record a screencast while you are playing the presentation, but that might be somewhat cumbersome.

(b) Is there any way to run JessyInk without using internet browser (or if it is necessary, without internet connection)?
This question I would like to answer in two parts:

Is it possible to run JessyInk without using a browser?
Conceivably yes. You would need some other way to render the svg image (there are several libraries around) and you would need to interpret the javascript code and do the required transformations of the svg image. So I would say it is possible, but quite a pain to do. Maybe, if you described your use-case in more detail we could find a better solution.

Is it possible to run JessyInk off-line (without Internet connection)?
Sure, I do it all the time. The presentation is entirely self-contained. However, you should be careful not to link images or video from web. Including locally stored images or video is no problem.

(c) I found information about Sozi and it seems to do same than JessyInk, is it?
Sozi is very similar in spirit to JessyInk. Last time I checked, it had fewer features and was mainly centred around zooming-presentations.

Can you help with this problem?
