jessyink inkscape screencasts/ how tos?

Asked by pleabargain

Links to screen casts would be most useful.

I have seen http://www.timteatro.net/2010/08/12/a-tutorial-introduction-to-jessyink-presentations-in-inkscape/
however it just didn't do the trick for this thick headed wannabe user.

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I had a look at the video and I think I know what was going on. From the looks of it, you skipped the first step, i.e. you did not create a new rectangle. The way it works in JessyInk 1.X is that the object you assign the view to is not displayed when the presentation is loaded into the browser. Since you only had to objects and assigned views to both of them, it does not surprise that you ended up with a blank page. Try placing an extra rectangle over the region you want to zoom in on and assigning a view to it.

JessyInk 2.X works more like you expected (i.e. objects that have views assigned to them are not hidden). I would be interested, if you have more success trying to do the same thing in version 2.X.

Producing more explanatory screencasts is a very good idea. Unfortunately it might be a while until my time permits such ventures.

In any case, let me know whether you can get views to work for you.

No joy with 2.x

I tried to do as the SVG suggested but copy paste failed and I couldn't get jessyink to reveal its secrets in Inkscape either. :(

Did you manage to get views to work in version 1.5?

Could you provide some more detail on how the copying failed or which in element in particular failed to copy?

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask pleabargain for more information if necessary.
