Here is my effort to reproduce a 'view' in Inkscape

I fail. :(

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I had a look at the video and I think I know what was going on. From the looks of it, you skipped the first step, i.e. you did not create a new rectangle. The way it works in JessyInk 1.X is that the object you assign the view to is not displayed when the presentation is loaded into the browser. Since you only had to objects and assigned views to both of them, it does not surprise that you ended up with a blank page. Try placing an extra rectangle over the region you want to zoom in on and assigning a view to it.

JessyInk 2.X works more like you expected (i.e. objects that have views assigned to them are not hidden). I would be interested, if you have more success trying to do the same thing in version 2.X.

Producing more explanatory screencasts is a very good idea. Unfortunately it might be a while until my time permits such ventures.

In any case, let me know whether you can get views to work for you.

No joy with 2.x

I tried to do as the SVG suggested but copy paste failed and I couldn't get jessyink to reveal its secrets in Inkscape either. :(

Thanks for the quick replies... my notes are below.

Ideal Mindmap to Web Presentation Tool
    possible tools
        Jessyink with Inkscape
dev is fast to reply and helpful
1.5 v is not easy to manipulate
            see my vids on Youtube
                bonus it's on Github!
            having troubles too...
    prezi like
        Prezi is cool but...
            no SVG export
            data lock
cannot export as anything but Prezi file
        create mindmap in freeplane
        export as SVG
edit in Inkscape with SVG animator tool
post to web as animated SVG
        NO data lock!

Did you manage to get views to work in version 1.5?

Could you provide some more detail on how the copying failed or which in element in particular failed to copy?

Can you help with this problem?
