Video support

Asked by Allan Dowdeswell

Hi, I noticed there's been some work done on the Video class. I'm curious as to how far along this is, and whether it would support writing H.264 and WebM videos to the Canvas. Thanks!

Thanks to some work by tecteun, video is working (or was a few revisions ago, I tested a WebM video).

There were some issues related to whether/how to render the video to the root canvas while preserving z-order and layering support.

The default implementation involved some way of copying the video to the root canvas. These issues will hopefuly be resolved by the end of the month, which will allow the video layer to render unimpeded.

Whatever codecs that the browser supports are also supported here. This does mean that H.264 will not be supported in every browser, but WebM is.

Thanks, I'll be keeping my eye on this. Very exciting!
Just a correction to your final sentence, only Firefox, Opera and Chrome support WebM currently, as stated here: http://www.webmproject.org/users/
