need zend-loader

Asked by Mustafa Ramadhan

I found ioncube-loader on this repo. Sadlly didn't zend-optimizer-loader for php52 and zend-guard-loader for php53u.

What's the reason for not including zend-loader?.

i found zend-loader from http://www6.atomicorp.com/channels/atomic/centos/5/

Hello Mustafa,

IUS creates packages per request, or what we believe may be useful for the community.

Most likely the reason these packages were never built is due to no
community members requesting it.

Zend and ioncube are usually installed together on a particular system ( eg on Kloxo ). It's better IUS have zend-loader too. Some repos like atomic and centalt also have both.

Please consider as a request from me .

Sound good.

In order to keep track of this request would you please
create a official request for this software?

Thanks

I have my own php-zend. Please look at https://github.com/mustafaramadhan/kloxo/tree/rpms/release/centos5/SRPMS.

Using this php-zend look like ok on my servers.

Hello Mustafa,

After some looking it seems the Zend Guard and Optimizer are commercially licensed. This is not something IUS Community will be able to package unfortunately.

1. They have 'Zend Server Community Edition' where optimizer and guard included.

2. We must pay if using php encrypt with optimizer or guard. This is like ioncube for php encrypt.

3. Many repos including optimizer and or guard like CentAlt and Atomic

Hello Mustafa,

Yes, I do see they provide binary files that are free to use.
However, this is not something IUS is willing to package
as they are non open source.

IUS follows the Fedora packaging module:

This is why Zend Guard is not available from EPEL (A Fedora project).

We can see optimizer and guard src.rpm on http://centos.alt.ru/repository/centos/5/SRPMS/ or http://www6.atomicorp.com/channels/source/. Also from 'Zend Server Community Edition' when installed.

Hello Mustafa,

I understand this package has been built by other repositories,
however, these repositories do not use the Fedora Packaging
guidelines as their packaging policy.

These packages will not be built in the IUS Community.
