Issues updating mysql 5.5.x to Plesk 10.1 on RHEL 5.6

Asked by Iqbal M

I have RHEL 5.6 with Plesk 10.1 having mysql 5.1.56 & php 5.3.3. I want to upgrade to mysql 5.5.x keeping plesk libraries intact. How can i upgrade to mysql 5.5 without breaking plesk layer. I know i have to remove exisinting mysql but i need to step by step what i have to remove and how i can upgrade to 5.5. I tried couple of times but its giving error 'Conflicting with existing mysql. I already enabled my server for IUS reposotries and i can see they 5.5 mysql files also. If anyone can assist, i 'll be really thankful.

To my knowledge, Plesk does not support MySQL 5.5. Have you done research which shows otherwise? Regardless, the upgrade process would be the same. The easiest way is using the Yum 'replace' plugin:

If you continue to have issues you would have to paste specific commands you are running and their output. Please note... I would highly recommend that you backup your database *before* upgrading to MySQL 5.5 because you may very well likely need to roll back to MySQL 5.1.

Can you help with this problem?
