I did make some mistake in my comment #8, let me make the correction: Ubuntu 14.04 supports this feature while Ubuntu 14.10 doesn't.

Currently, the intel-microcode package is in "universe" repository, is it okay to move it to the "main" repository, so that CPU new microcode can be loaded by default?
