Inkscape GTK+ 2.* security vulnerability

Asked by PacMan

I have Inkscape 0.47 installed on my Win XP Pro system. Secunia PSI has just told me that a piece of software called GTK+ 2.* is making my system vulnerable to attack and needs to be replaced. It directed me to an ftp site to download an update to GTK. I downloaded a bunch of folders and subfolders and sub-sub-folders but nowhere in this jungle of downloaded files could I find some indication as to how to install it. It seems that this GTK has something to do with Inkscape (it's in an Inkscape folder).

How do I update this Inkscape component ?

Hi,

Gtk libraries are installed in the Inkscape directory, and can't be updated easily. And a separate gtk install is not used by Inkscape.
I suggest that you keep the default install otherwise it could prevent Inkscape from working. The next Inkscape version (0.48, which should be available soon) embed an updated gtk version which solves many Windows issues.

Regards.
