Why do overlaps create a darker colour with 100% opacity?

Asked by sanderr2

Hi, I'm trying to abut some shapes that don't align exactly but wherever the shapes overlap I get a darker region - even though the opacity of the fill is set at 100%. The two shapes are meant to create a new single shape but the effect is ruined by the overlap being a darker colour than the rest of the composite shape. Can anyone help me?!
Thanks,
Rob

Note that there are two different opacity settings for the fill. One is the alpha value for the fill colour (the A slider on the Fill tab of the Fill and Stroke dialog). The other is the overall opacity setting for the object (the Opacity slider in the Fill and Stroke dialog). I think you probably have one of these set to maximum, but not the other.
