hi i am trying to draw a circle behind a picture that i already have. When i draw the circle it goes on top of my picture and if i want the picture to go on top of the circle i have to copy and paste it there. is there any way that i can draw a circle and it automatically go behind my picture

Hi,

The easiest way consists in changing the objects z-order with the PageUp and PageDown keys (see http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Z-Order.html). If you have only two objects and if you don't need to lock or hide one of them, it's probably the best solution.
But you can also use two layers, and add your circle on the bottom one (http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Layers.html).

If you intend to do more than one, you might want to create a "template" for the Blank CD label, consistng of the inner and outer circles and perhaps some index lines. Use the "DVD cover" as a worked example. Place your template in the template directory. Thereafter, you will find it in he list of choices when you click on File->New.
