Images look wrong

Since Inkscape won't save as jpg I'm trying to open the files in another program and save them from there. Problem is, everytime I save the file in Inkscape (where it looks fine) it looks awful no matter where else I open it. The image is pixelated, the text is crooked. I tried GIMP, I tried PaintNet, and I tried just opening it on my computer. The only place the image looks right is in Inkscape. This is useless to me. I've saved as PNG, SVG and PDF. In GIMP, the SVG's have black boxes over everything. The other programs won't even recognize the SVG. How am I supposed to use these images in another program and have it look correctly?

If you want to open it in a bitmap editor like GIMP or PaintNet, you should export it as a PNG file (using Export Bitmap on the File menu). Make sure that you export it with a large enough width and height for your intended use.

This happens if you used 'Flowed text' [1] objects in your SVG. Please read the FAQ [2] about more information about why this happens and a related bug report [3] about how to remove empty (invisible) 'Flowed text' objects from your SVG file.

To create SVG files that are compatible with other SVG renderer it is best to convert all 'Flowed Text' objects to regular text (menu 'Text > Convert to text') and save the file as 'Plain SVG'. Keep the original file as 'Inkscape SVG' with the 'Flowed Text' objects intact so you can edit the file if needed.

To export as bitmap it is recommended to use 'File > Export Bitmap...' [4] not 'Save as... Cairo PNG (*.png)'.
