don't understand it all!

Asked by Donna

I was trying to get started with Inkscape and SCAL by following a tutorial from Penny Duncan. It is hard to follow ---- only because I am slow! However; I do not understand when she said she had her "default" mat set at 12 by 12. I do not see the word "default" anywhere. How do I set the default mat at 12 by 12? Thank you very much for your help! <email address hidden> or my phone number is 641 985 2568 Thanks again!

Hello Donna

Don't know about that tutorial, but I think I can help you.
If I understand right 'mat' is the 'page'. You can set page dimensions under the File -> Document Properties (Shift+Ctrl+D). If Penny mean 12cm by 12 cm then you need to select 'cm' from dropdown list of Units and then set 12 for width and 12 for height.

Under 'default' I think Penny mean that Inkscape start with this page template if it opens without any file (or when File -> New -> Default is selected)

For that you need to save template in the Inkscape folder (under Windows it is in ../Program Files/Inkscape/share/templates) with name default.svg.
