error message at opening Inkscape

Asked by vmf007

The preferences file C:\Users\Victor\AppData\Roaming\inkscape\preferences.xml is not a valid XML document. Inkscape will run with default settings, and new settings will not be saved.

Hi,

There's something wrong (or not well interpreted by 0.47) in your preferences file. It sometimes happens when you upgrade from 0.46.
The easiest way to get rid of the error message is to remove (or rename) the existing preference file (C:\Users\Victor\AppData\Roaming\inkscape\preferences.xml) and let Inkscape create a default new one.

Regards.

Hi,

"here's my new question. I went to inkscape preferences/ Misc/ and can't
delete it. nothing happens when I click delete key or control x
so what exactly is it or where am I to look for this preference file
that I am to re-name or delete?"

You can't remove it from inside Inkscape. Just remove the file on your file system, exactly where the message tell you it is, that is to say: C:\Users\Victor\AppData\Roaming\inkscape\preferences.xml.

Regards.
