How do I take an .svg image from the Web, like Wikipedia, and edit it on Inkscape?

Asked by Jim Dietrich

I'm using a Mac OS X 10.5 and Firefox 3.5, and I'm trying to modify this file as it's inaccurate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:St._Petersburg_street_%26_airport_racing_circuit.svg How do I upload this to Inkscape so I can make the necessary corrections, or do I have to rebuild the file from scratch?

Hi,
You don't need to rebuild it from scratch. To download it, open the image in Firefox (with this link: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/56/St._Petersburg_street_%26_airport_racing_circuit.svg), and use File>Save as...
Then you can open your saved SVG with Inkscape and make your corrections.
