saving without background

Asked by Luis

I have created a logo for my company using Inkscape. I want to use this logo for stationary as well as on my website. Whenever I save the logo, it also saves the white rectangular background around it so when I use it on anything that doesn't have a white background (my website) I get this big white square around the logo. I am using Macromedia for website creating so I am saving the logo as a .PNG and even tried a .PDF with the same results both times. Macromedia does not recognize a .SVG so I can't use that.

I am very appreciative of any help.

If a comprehensive Help index were with the program many of these questions would not arise. This is a bad fault. Take a lesson from "Paint" and Windows Draw"

Hi Luis,

The default canvas background should be transparent.
If not, open File>Document Properties (Ctrl+Shift+D), select the Page tab, and click on the background area. Then, in the Background color dialog box, set the alpha value (A, on the bottom) to 0.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Luis for more information if necessary.
