Is it save to extract Inkscape-0.47 over an existing Inkscape-0.46

Asked by theAdib

I used the Inkscape-0.47pre3-1.win32.7z archive to unzip the files to a folder named inskape in desktop(xp).
when i decided to use 0.46 version (.7z) of program,i decide to delete the folder inskape.when i press the ok button to continue to deletion a messsage appear, saying: "removing, renaming or deleting iskape could make some programs not to work. Are you want to do this?"
is safe to delete the folder inskape?should i proceed with deletion and unzip to a new folder inskape 0.46?
please help.
thanks in advanced.

We already had situations in the past where orphaned dll made a hell during the execution of inkscape. So please ALWAYS CLEAN YOUR INKSCAPE DIRECTORY BEFORE REPLACE CONTENT. The only exception is the archive containing debug information. Those files comes as add-on.
