When I convert svg to png it puts a checkerboard on whole page.

Asked by bjb

I used the export to bitmap facility in inkscape, and when I looked at the bitmap, I see a checkerboard design on the whole page behind my objects. I tried copying and pasting my objects onto a clean project, but when I exported to png, the same thing happened. I am just accepting the defaults when I export. I can't figure out why it is doing this, as there is no checkerboard when I view the svg file in inkscape. TIA for your help.

Hello,

:) checkerboard that you see is in fact transparent areas. The
background in Inkscape transparent by default. If you want to use some
other background, just draw rectangle, fill it with desired color and
place on the bottom of your picture.
