create a transparent graphic

I want to export a graphic that I have created as a jpg or gif or png and have the back ground be transparent. Is there a way to do that?

hello,

background in Inkscape is transparent by default. you could import it
as png only.
also - I didn't knew, that jpg could use transparency :) it simply
doesn't use it.
