Graphics have black box

Asked by Laura

I have been using this program for a while now without a hitch.

However, I created graphics today that look great, but MSWord and Adobe can no longer read the EPS files I create. Adobe gives me a black box and MSWord just tells me it can't read it. The programs can read the older ones I did but not the ones I created today.

Any ideas?

ho Laura!

1)hm. could you give us a link to your sample?
2)maybe in your present work you use some of Inkscape magic like filters or somewhat?
and the third - is vector format so important 4 you in MSWord? I think PNG will work without a hitch there.

Cheerz, Oleg

Hello Oleg,

Thank you for your ideas.

I don't know how to provide a link to the sample. When I have the vector open in inkscape it looks fine, but it doesn't look fine anywhere else.
I'll check for filters, but text on a path is the only thing that is different, I think. I wonder if the black box has something to do with the graphic we are using as part of the overall image. I'll check into that.
And in MSWord you are right, a vector isn't necessary. I included MSW because when graphics fail everywhere else I find that they work in MSW, but in this case it still wasn't working. This graphic is destined to become a gigantic banner, in which case PNG won't work for our needs.

I keep coming back to the other graphics not working either, even though they have worked in the past. I wonder if this is due to a computer update, or something like that. I'll keep experimenting.

Thanks again for your time, you have some good ideas to check into.

Hi again, Laura

did you try to save your work in PDF?

Hi Oleg,

There seemed to be two problems:
First, the graphic must have corrupted. I replaced it with my saved graphic from a separate file and the black box stopped coming up.
Second, I updated microsoft and MSW started opening the files again.

A two-prong attack, who would have guessed, lol.

Thank you again for your help and advice, it got the wheels turning.
