How can I change the charakter of letters?

I found the way to change the charakter of letters, but the programm does not apply. Or I dont know how to apply.
Please help an old german guy. I wrote text, I changed the charakter and the size, but nothing happens.

I suppose that you are use old Inkscape 0.46. In new development version that problem seems to be solved.
I propose next workaround for you - wrote text, then, with selected text (or in text mode) press Shift+Ctrl+T. This will lead you to Text and Font window, where you can choose appropriate font and change text easily (in Text tab).

Hallo, Oleg - I am surprised. Within a few hours the solution of my problem.
So I think I am a member of a large family. I feel good. I would feel better, when I know where you are living.
