Yes, I've used it that way but it may not be optimal.

I often do a 3-photo blend in ads I make. First and last photo go under the centre photo but poking out either side. Then I apply a mask created from a rectangle with a reflecting linear gradient blend. This leaves the edges of the centre image transparent, getting more opaque until about quarter of the way in.

Adjusting the gradient of the mask allows you to adjust the severity of the blending and the precise transition points.

Select the 3 images and export as a PNG.
