How do I disable the "snap to" feature?

Asked by Loraine A. Baird

Is there a way to disable the "snap to" feature? I haven't found such a thing in Preferences or elsewhere, and it is extremely annoying to have everything stick like a magnetic booger to every node near it when I move an object or node, or pull the direction of a gradient, unless I hit SHIFT or bump it with the arrow keys! I can see the validity of having a "snap to" for many reasons, but there are many times one would not want it, at least be able to turn it off and on as needed.

I am using a dev pre 0.47 on Ubuntu.

I know this can be quite annoying. By pressing Shift+5, %, or going into View > Snap you should be able to toggle snapping on and off. Hopefully this works for you and helps.
