In Inkscape my transform tool (scale) isn't working

Under "Object" there is "transform"..."Move" is working, but "scale" is not. Makes the image tiny (positive or negative value).
This problem has just occurred since I downloaded the latest version of Inkscape. Should I download it again? I have some large files that I have kept from the previous version. I really like the new "rendering" feature.

I gather 0.47 is out soon ... I'm using Inkscape 0.46, built Apr 8 2009 and the Transform > Scale feature is working fine for me. Remember that the scale is a % (percentage) and so anything under 100 will reduce the size of the object.

Thank you. I realised afterwards that the format had changed and is now a %. It is working perfectly and is also more user friendly.
