Inkscape doesn't show in Leopard

Asked by spinzon

I am running Mac 0S X 10.5.7. I downloaded and installed x11-2.3.3.2.dmg. Then I downloaded and installed Inkscape-0.46-2.Leopard.

When I launch Inkscape, I get a message saying it might take several minutes for the main window to show, because Inkscape needs to cache fonts. But 10 and 15 minutes later, still nothing shows. Using x11's bash shell, I chose "Show all" but I get no Inkscape window.

Inkscape also does not show in the Dock. It does not show in the list of open apps you get with Alt+Tab. Inkscape appears in my Applications folder when I'm in list view, but not when I'm in icon view.

As far as I can tell, Inkscape appears to launch but is not actually running. What am I missing? How do I get it to start, and how do I see it?

if your mac is intel try a development version to see if it fixes your problem, you can find it here:
http://inkscape.modevia.com/macosx-snap/?M=D (just pick the most recent .dmg of the list)

This affects me running 0.48.1.1 with XQuartz 2.6.3 on 10.6.8

Switching to nightly build Inkscape-r10582-10.5+-UNIVERSAL.dmg doesn’t fix it…
