how do i weld things together

i have a megaphone and I want to put letters in it how do i weld the letters and the megaphone together

you mean grouping under 'together'? if yes - select your megaphone & your text and press Ctrl+G
so you receive one object (group) with 2 objects (text & megaphone) inside it.
