How do I get my work to have a boader ouline around it

I am trying to get a piece I have made in inkscapes to have a board all the way around the outside of it. Thanks

Hi, is this a border around the complete work as in a frame? Or is it that you want to make the stroke wider?

Group your artwork, create a rectangle on the desired area, duplicate it with CTRL+D
Then, select a rectangle, shift+click on your artwork, and go to object>Clip>apply
Then select the remaining rectangle, and apply a border with Shift+Click on a color swatch. Go to the Fill and Stroke dialog and change the width of the stroke.
