Opening EMF file w/ greek symbol results in issues with text line

Asked by Tom Bernens

Hey there, I am trying to use inkscape.exe to convert a vector EMF image to a EPS image, including trimming white space. My image is a XY plot containing X and Y Axis titles (text), as well as gridlines and plot lines and a legend. The issue I am running into is that when the EMF file is opened in Inkscape (whether thru the command line or directly in the application) is that the Greek character mu is being parsed in an odd way, creating a split in the text resulting in overlapping text. The same thing happens with the degree symbol. before/after in imgur below. It seems to be an issue with EMF/WMF files specifically, if I do something like print to PDF first then convert the PDF file in inkscape this issue doesn't happen.

The command I am using is

inkscape 6pp.emf -T -D -o 6pp.eps

from here: https://inkscape.org/doc/inkscape-man.html

so the fonts should be converted to paths..
