software fault

Asked by jaki

Hi, I just lost 3hrs work as the software shut down. It didnt offer a save before shutting down... any ideas what it might be caused by? Has happened several times now.. no immediately obvious connections. Sometimes have a message saying there has been a runtime error and software has to shut down I have been able to continue using the recovered files in the past, but nothing today

Hope you can help

thanks

Hi Jaki,

The best thing to do is report it in the bugs section.
You can also test a dev build (0.47 is planned for June, and the builds should not have too many bugs) and see if it solve your crash.

...aaaand, remember that Inkscape is software in development. It didn't reach the 1.0 state, so it's a good idea to save frequently and not be too surprised if you get a crash or a bug.
Fortunately, developers have been working in emergency save and auto-save features and they will be available in 0.47 (and already available in nightly builds now), so you will have to worry less :-)
