when drawing a line, when points are connected the interior is automatically filled

im simply trying to create an outline of an image and once the nodes are connected to complete the image, the image is automatically filled in. i do not want it filled. even when I x the fill the outlined lines disappear.

depending on the tool you are using, there may be a control for the tool set to create filled paths.

Maybe you can upload an example file to a sharing site like dropbox and provide a link here.
