Inkscape

when using the fill tool the fill color does not stay in the area I am trying to fill with color. The color goes way out side the design....what am I doing wrong

You can:

- change the threshold and gap closing settings for the bucket tool
- use the fill and stroke dialog to apply a fill to an object instead
- use Boolean operations to create a shape that can be filled via fill property

The general advice is: avoid using the bucket tool if you're new to Inkscape. Use proper vector tools instead.
