wacom tablet compatibility

Asked by dsaubin

Is Inkscape compatible with the Wacom Bamboo Tablet, and if so how do you configure it for use?

I cannot stand using a mouse for drawing, and really want to take advantage of the features in Inkscape.

please get back to me so I know if this is possible.

thank you

This is really a general question about tablet support

A bit depends on what you need as far as support goes. In general as long as the tablet will work with the operating system, then it will work at least basically for Inkscape.

The Wacom Bamboo had some driver issues initially on Linux, but after a few months those seemed to have been resolved.

There might be some issue getting pressure sensitivity working under OS X at the moment, but on all platforms a tablet should work as a mouse replacement.

How to configure for use first needs the OS to be configured. Then the inkscape preference to "Use pressure-sensitive tablet" under "Mouse" needs to be enabled, and then when then calligraphy tool is selected the toggle button for "Use the pressure of the input device..." needs to be depressed.

I've ran into the same problem it has nothing to do with the tablet itself or the O.S.. You are able operate all buttons and anything else except for actually drawing on the page. It recognizes the device, you're just not able to use it to apply anything.

Can you help with this problem?
