When I drag an item from the art board it dissapears

I have created a document in inkscape, but when I try to save it as a PDF it removed the opacity of 1 object making it opaque. when I try to change the document by dragging an object from the art board to the side it dissapears leaving only the dotted outline. if I click off this outline the object is gone. Any ideas? Thanks.

I don't know what the 'art board' might be (please describe more clearly), but you can probably fix the pdf export issue by checking the box 'rasterize filter effects' and setting the dpi value that belongs to that option to whichever value you need (pdf for screen display: 96dpi, pdf for print: 300dpi or 600dpi) or by removing any filters from the object in question (select it, Filters > Remove filters).

Maybe the vanishing object is due to a clip or a mask? Post a link to a file and a step by step description of what you do, if you need more help.
