i cant see a preview when i open tracebitmap to convrt a pdf to vector

When im trying to convert image from pdf to vector i select the image and then select path and then tracebitmap and it wont do anything how do i convert a pdf into a vector image

PDF files can contain vector and bitmap image objects. You might try ungrouping everything until the status bar indicates no more groups, then see if there are any bitmap images that need tracing.
