deleting text from object

I am trying to change a design by eliminating the text that is already there. I am new to Inkscape, so I need guidance in doing this.

The design is a business card in PNG format a customer sent to me and I brought into Inkscape. However, some of the information he would like taken out so that the design could be made into a banner.

For editing a PNG image, I would suggest to rather use a bitmap editing software, like Gimp (which is also free and open source).

Or to convert the image into a vector drawing (often, that will involve recreating it, in some cases it may be possible to do tracing to turn it into vector info).
