How to add a new font into Inkscape on Linux

Asked by Peter Stein

I have followed the appropriate advice from previous answers however two new fonts installed on my Linux system are recognised by word processors but not Inkscape.
I noted that Inkscape has quality standards, however, it would seem it would be helpful if a message in place of the font listing advised that it was rejected due to xxxxx

In this way we can feel that the user has done all that is required for Inkscape to be aware of correct procedures and we just live with Inkscapes choices and move on - at this point I feel that I have not done something correctly and keep going round in circles

Cheers
Peter

After starting and restarting PC a no. of times nothing seemed to bring up the new fonts. However, working in Krita for an hour with the new font - I could not do what I wanted so returned to Inscape and the fonts were finally visible - so essentially problem solved although not sure why it would take an hour to achieve the desired result.
I am using Feren Linux (rolling release) based on Ubuntu and that could have something to do with how each application is dealt with when it comes to Fonts etc.

Again Thank you for reading and I will find new issues I need to refer to Help pages :)
