join line to text

Is there a way to create a fancy tail with bezier pen and join it to text like a Y. I can accomplish this with a bunch of node editor work and union but still looks like crap?

You could try auto smoothing (spiro button) on the bezier path with a triangle shape, then convert to standard path (object to path) before adding/union to the characters.

Frequently, less nodes are better for editing smooth shapes, so using the path >simplify tool may be useful here too.
