subscript disabled for text

Hello,

In a text area, i would like to put some letters in subscript.
The option seems to exist. However, the option "subscript" is greyed.
How can I active it ?

Works for me in Inkscape 0.92.3 - what's your Inkscape version and operating system?

Can you post a link to a file that has the problem?
