line width path effect editor

I have drawn a line (triangle in ) with bezier pen. Went to path effect editor to increase width of line. There is no effect on the line (pattern along path option). anyone Ihave any ideas? I have tried for 2 days to get this to work.

I think I answered this kind of thing only recently... Have you asked the same somewhere else?

Switch to node tool, drag on the pink diamond.
