I want to edit existing text and the cursor won't comply

Asked by Betsy Halstead

I am trying to edit existing text. When I selecte the "T" in the menu bar, the cursor won't go where I click it inside the line of text I want to change. I would assume this would be a simple task as in Adobe Illustrator. Also the flashing cursor is much larger than the existing text. This is driving me crazy!

PLEASE, could someone get back to me ASAP? I have someone waiting for my printout!

Thanks,

Betsy

P.S. I am using Inkscape in lieu of Illustrator since the later is far too expensive. However, I may end up renting it monthly if this doesn't work.

I'd try using the Text tool in the toolbar on the left... Just click and type (don't drag a rectangle unless you want flowed text).

My problem *IS*just clicking. The cursor won't click within the text.

Select the text with the selection tool.

Look into the status line (info line at the bottom of the window)

What does it say?

A) group : ungroup and repeat
B) path : cannot be edited as text
C) text: it should be working, just switch to text tool to have the cursor automatically at the end of the text

Can you help with this problem?
