I don't know about a key combination, but File -> New should do it.

If 45 possibilities came up and I know nothing about them, tell me how can anything be solved. Witch of the 45 +or- items do you hit to erase what has been drawn.

The "File>new" menu item lets you start a new drawing. All those options are templates, predefined page sizes and measure units you can choose.
If you don't mind about page size and units, just use the default (or press CTRL+N, which does the same thing).

Another way without starting a new drawing is to select everything (CTRL+A) on the keyboard, then press the DEL key. That will erase all the drawings on the canvas.
