beginner: Imported svg looks wrong

Asked by Josh George

I have a w3c validated svg file with two images and paths in it. When I look at it with Gimp I see what I expect, but when I've loaded it in inkscape I only see one of the images, and none of the paths.

I'm using the ubuntu 0.46-0ubuntu2 package of inkscape in hardy on x86.

I put the svg file online at http://www.languageandpeace.com/blog/1500.svg

The two image files are in the same directory.

everything is there, just the z order is somewhat messed up. Send your images to the back (Object menu>lower to bottom), and you will see that the path is there, behind the image (as is the other image)

Can you help with this problem?
