Offset minimum value limit .1 is too big

Asked by Jaggz

I'm adding a filter, offsetting a bitmap (to do some other effects as well), and the slider/value of the Effect->Offset minimum of .1 is too large of a move. (The text in the image shifts wider than the width of the letters in my case). I've tried scaling, grouping and scaling, applying filters to the group instead of the image, etc. Nothing seems to change the constant proportional amount that it shifts. It does not seem to shift a proportion of the object, which is much wider than it is tall -- that is, with (.1, .1) it shifts 45 degrees down and to the right -- which is fine, but not the amount that it shifts.

Can we change the minimum offset, and possibly other value limits as well? Is there a reason to restrict this?

Hi Jaggz,

please open a feature request for this in the bug reports section [1] to get developer feedback on your ideas. As for the other 'restricted' values, you could prepare a list for them, and a suggestion as to how the user interface would need to change.

(sliders can only 'slide' incrementally, so within a specific range and with a specific step size)

Please tag it with 'filters-svg', and add an indication that you're referring to the filter editor to the title.

Linked new bug report. I didn't see a "feature request" option/tag anywhere.

That's fine, there is no distinction currently. If someone does bug triage, they might add a 'wishlist' importance value to it.

Can you help with this problem?
