fill an imported shape

I am trying to fill a shape imported from the web. I trace bitmap and then add tex, Selected both text and shape and clink the flow into shape but it doesn't place into the shape. What am I doing wrong?

Does the text vanish?

And does the image you have consist of an outline?

If so, select the shape after the trace bitmap, then do Path -> Break apart, and then Path -> Union. Afterwards try flowing the text into the shape again.
