Can I warp objects like this? (Read description.)

Asked by Zech

I like to animate objects by warping it. Does inkscape, (or gimp.) have a tool like this. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/puppet-warp.html

Or you could just watch this video. https://youtu.be/JC41fm_huYY
Adobe has this cool tool, and I was hoping inkscape, (or gimp. ) had something similar

Inkscape doesn't have anything like that. You would need to use node editing to get a similar result. I don't think there's something like it for Gimp, but I don't know for sure.

Okay I guess it doesn't then. I just love that tool that Adobe had, but I couldn't afford Adobe. So I switched to inkscape. (Actually I kinda like inkscape better than Ai. )

Yes! That's exactly what I wanted. How did you find that!?!?!

Just a random question. How do you register ideas you have to improve inkscape?

I made it.

Feature requests go to https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape, just like bug reports.
However, if you're unsure if the functionality already exists, and for refining your request first, asking on the user mailing list, on the forums or even here is a good first step to make sure to not overwhelm developers.

(the video demonstrates usage of the node tool to do what you want)

Ensure the node-tool controls bar has the transform handles button active... (it is not shown in the screen capture.)

I would also check in the animation apps for svg. The node edit demonstration is how I would approach editing, but maybe not animation.

Note in the Adobe example, how a number of shapes get changed, maybe with diminishing influence from the center of rotation. That would be like a combination of Inkscape's tweak-tool and the node group transforms.

But, if this is good enough, carry on.

Okay maybe that's not a good idea for animating. But still that is a great trick

I think it would be great if inkscape had a tool like that.
