Need instructions on how to conform text into an object

Asked by Pat Daly

How do I achieve placing text into an image and having the text conform to the image? I am using a jpeg image that I vectorized using Inkscape.

Do you want all the lettering to change shape, or do you want multiple horizontal lines of text to break at word spaces and wrap into the outline?

Thank you for your quick response. I would like to know how to do both.

To break lines of text within an outline, I'd use flowed-text:

To change the shapes of letters to fit inside a simple outline I'd use the bezier envelope extension:

Or the perspective/envelope LPE (live path effect):

To change the shapes of letters to fit inside a more complex outline I'd try something like in this video:

More options too, I'm sure.
