Inscape verison 0.91 won't upgrade to 0.92 with normal software GUI interface on MATE ubuntu version 16.04

MATE won't let me upgrade from Inscape version 0.91 to the latest; which doesn't have the bugs of the earlier version.
I'm making money by uploading designs to MERCH T-SHIRT on Amazon; but the bugs won't allow me to do certain things. Performing certain operations such as closing down docking stations can cause program to crash. Additional, when dialogue boxes are shut, a square, dark grey patch remains behind. I have to completely shut down the program, in order to get rid of it.
There are other bugs, as well, that I just can't recall at the moment.

Use the ppa to get the latest version, which is not available from Ubuntu's repositories:
https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/+archive/ubuntu/stable
